Resume:

This diploma thesis project analyses the problem of the uninterrupted power supply of a fishpond, using photovoltaics and a battery system for storing the excess power. The fishponds must not experience power outages longer than 15 minutes, since it can be fatal for the fish. This leads to big financial losses, and therefore the project proposes a solution for overcoming this problem by providing a backup power supply from the photovoltaic system when it is possible. In some cases when there is an outage in the utility grid and the weather conditions are not favourable for the photovoltaics, the fishpond is supplied by the power storage system. The project proposes a solution analysing all the risks and possible scenarios. Additionally, an economic analysis is made for determining the cost-effectiveness of the proposed technical solution.
