Short description of the project:
It is a diploma thesis that uses acquired knowledge from various fields to develop a device that is used for compensation of reactive power in power systems. When, in addition to the active power, reactive power is transmitted through the elements of the system, the current has larger effective value. This causes additional active power losses in the system elements and additional voltage losses. These losses can be reduced if a reactive power source is used to produce the required reactive power, which is placed in a well-chosen location in the network, which practically compensates the reactive power. As part of this diploma thesis, a compensation device was designed through several electronic elements which was then tested on an electric motor.
