Short description of the project:
The low air quality, especially the high PM concentration, have a significant negative effect to the health of the people and to the environment. One of the methods for air pollution reduction in the cities is increasing the green infrastructure because of the plants’ capability to absorb the particles with their leaves and stems. The early pollution forecast is important, especially during the winter months in the cities that cope with high pollution.
The diploma thesis prepared by Viktor Andonovikj aims to evaluate the effects of green areas to air pollution reduction and to correlate the air pollution and the meteorological factors. The work also aims to develop a machine-based learning model to forecast the PM10 and PM2.5 in Skopje. For these purposes, data from three locations in Skopje are used, as well as various statistical methods and methods for machine learning.
